Our Allsorts project works with people in the local community over the age of 50 to combat loneliness and isolation

If you are over 50 and live locally you may be interested in our workshops and classes or a friendly chat

,The Allsorts Project was created in response to the impact on physical and mental wellbeing that COVID19 has had on older and vulnerable people in the Brookvale and Sutton Park Communities of Runcorn, Cheshire.

Increasing isolation

Many people were shielding in the first lockdown but the vast majority were experiencing increased isolation and loneliness. Even though the number of COVID cases reduced over the summer of 2020, a significant proportion of older people still stayed at, or close, to home. This has been made harder still with the third national lockdown in early 2021 meaning that once again the Centre had to remain closed along with the Hello Café and activities cancelled.

Winter Warmer Hampers

In December 2020 we received some match funding from Cheshire Police through their Operation Gripped/Kops n’ Kids Fund which enabled the Halton Speak Out and Allsorts Team, along with the Norton South Police Team, to provide Winter Warmer Hampers for some elderly and vulnerable residents locally. These included a range of essential items and treats and with assistance from PC Panda and our local PCSO Georgina Griffiths, the Centre team delivered them around the area including to the Anchor Hanover Sheltered Housing Centres of Hanover Court and Broome Court.

Planning for after COVID

Our older community members, and those living on their own especially, are going to need support more than ever so we set up a Focus Group to find out how the Centre can support this age group and be a place for them to go to, whether it’s for taking part in activities and groups, or meeting friends and families in the Hello Café for a drink and something to eat.

Plenty of activities being planned

As well as bringing back the popular groups and activities that have been taking place in the Centre for many years such as the various dance groups, keep fit, yoga, sewing groups and gardening club it’s important that other interests are catered for too. Check our Groups page to find out what is currently programmed for the Centre and keep up to date on our Calendar page for times and dates of activities.

We are thankful that the Allsorts Project has been generously supported by the Steve Morgan Foundation.
